Sue-Jan & Terrence Pre-Wedding
8 Jun 2011
Every culture is different, thats why I thoroughly enjoy doing what I do as I get to meet different people from different cultural backgrounds. Sue-Jan and Terrence are originally from Malaysia, it is very popular for the "to-be-wed couples" from Asia to take pre-wedding photos prior to their actual wedding day as it gives them the opportunity to have beautiful photos taken at desired locations without having to rush and pray for good weather on their actual wedding day. Taking pre-wedding photos are actually quite fun, as you are working in a very relaxed environment, you can setup the light perfectly for every shot and thats when you can improve on your "technical skills" as well.
Sue-Jan has went into the effort of choosing her locations for the photos to be taken, we first started off at a private garden - Brookgreen Park just west of Albany Northshore. This private park has a good garden setting, they even have a pond with a little dinghy in it. The owner told me most photographers placed the dinghy on the grass and then manipulate it in post processing to make it look like they are actually in the pond. However being a realistic photographer I am (maybe lazy to do further photoshopping later…), and I am also famous for challenging couples to do things out of their way, I told them to hop into the dinghy while it was still in the water. At the end, no body got wet, and some interesting shots has been taken.
It has been a good year since I have been to Muriwai Beach, parked the car in the wrong car park and had to walk a good 40 minutes along the beach to get to where the stone formation is. (Good time for a good work out to get all the alcohol out of my body that I have consumed at the 2 weddings 2 days ago…) I tried not to think about the fact that we have to walk all the way back at the end of the sunset shoot…. Sorry Sue-Jan & Terrence! :P Once we get onto the stone formation, the lights were beautiful as the setting sun shined a natural golden glow in all of the photos. If you tried to manipulate this same effect in post processing, it is often hard to make it look good without being artificial. Quite happy with the sunsets in Muriwai, quite a bit of difference from Karikari sunset.
Sunset…..
Walk back to car….. :) :)
By the time we head back into town, it was well past 8:30pm, and the couple headed back to Sacxo studio to have the final hair/makeup done Sue-Jan changed into a lovely red evening gown ready for night shoot….
Thank you once again for having me Sue Jan and Terrence, you guys were absolutely fabulous to work with. Best wishes in Australia!!!
