Skyline Wedding
2 Dec 2011
Being a wedding photographer, you get to face challenges at every wedding you attend, there is no one wedding that is the same. Siamac and Nura's wedding is no different. The day begun for me by driving a mere 3.5 hours down to the famous tourist attraction in New Zealand - Rotorua, or Rotovegas, where the wedding is being held.
Although I have been to Rotorua many times, however this was the first time for me to do a wedding shoot down there so its all new to me, such as various locations/venues etc. We started out our day by taking some preparation/detail shots in the hotel where Nura/Siamac is staying, with Nura's grandmother dressing her as well as putting on all the jewlery.
We then headed out to Governors Gardens in Rotorua for some lcoation shots, although the weather is heavily overcast on the day, but it really played in our favors as the clouds gives us a nice diffused light with no heavy contrasting shadows. The other advantage of an overcast day is it really brings out all the colours of the flowers in the garden. Nura and Siamac is probably one of the best couples that I have shot to-date who is completely natural and be-themselves in front of the camera. Well done!!
Siamac and Nura's wedding was held at the Helipad on to of the Rotorua Skyline, before the wedding ceremony, Siamac and Nura went down the luge in their wedding outits. I had a good challenge of carrying all my camera gears with me and holding a camera in my hand while piloting the luge. It was quite an experience.
Ceremony was kept short and formal, with plenty of time for group photos with various guests, families and friends. My service ended before the start of their reception.
All in all, a very well planned day, I had lots of fun shooting. Best wishes Siamac and Nura!!!
