"Moments"
29 Jun 2011
"Capturing the Moment" of expressions, motion using the available light given at the time is always something that is easier said then done, and it is always something I wish to do more at weddings as it captures the atmosphere at the time. Capturing good "moment" photos sometimes rely on the subjects you are shooting as well, as some person suits these photos much better than others. I think Gemma and Justin are the ideal candidate for the Capturing the Moment photographs.
Gemma and Justin are the type of couple that I love to work with. The spontaneous, natural smiles and laughter, no fake expressions, not camera shy etc, these makes up the perfect ingredient to capture the most natural photographs for their wedding day on the 4th of March.
It was heavy overcast on the day, which means 2 things - no real need to use flash, and pray that it doesn't rain. The day started out with both the bride/groom preparations in their own house, followed by the ceremony held at a historic family church - St Johns East Tamaki, after a short ceremony, the bridal party headed to Stockade Hill, it was where Justin proposed to Gemma.
The reception was being held in Formosa Country Club, we had heaps of fun on the golf cart while we were taking the photos. It was towards the end of the photo session when the weather finally packed in and started to pour down, just in time to get inside the venue and took some details shots before the guests arrive.
All in all, a pretty fun day had by all. The wedding was a great success, Justin and Gemma both did so well as I didn't really have to tell them to pose and smile, as most of the shots were taken naturally.
Ceremony - St Johns Church The Anglican Diocese of Auckland
Reception - Formosa Country Club
